Takedown Policy

Olympic College Libraries makes every effort to ensure that it has appropriate rights to provide access to content through our digital collections website. These materials are made available for educational and scholarly use.

If you are a rights holder of materials featured on our digital collections website and believe that our inclusion of these materials violates your rights, (e.g., inclusion is not covered by Fair Use or other exemption to a copyright holder's rights), please contact us via the form under the Contact Us tab.

Please include:

1. Your name and contact information.

2. The exact URL where you found the material.

3. The reason why you believe that your rights have been violated, with any pertinent documentation.

4. A statement that you in good faith believe that use of the material in this manner is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

5. A statement that the information in your notification is accurate and that you are the rights holder or are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.

Upon receipt of a takedown request, the OC Libraries staff will:

1. Promptly acknowledge the request via email or other means of communication, if you do not have an email account.

2. Assess the validity of the request.

3. If necessary, temporarily remove the material from our website while we assess the concern.

4. Upon completion of the assessment, we will take appropriate action and communicate that action to you.

Before submitting a takedown request, we ask that you consider this option very carefully. Your content helps us fulfill the OC Digital Archives mission of preserving and providing access to historically significant materials. We urge you to let us make them available and accessible.
